Nathan Piskorski, PLMHP
Nathan has always gravitated toward helping roles, and as a peer mentor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, he fell in love with helping others. This experience, as well as wanting to work with a historically underserved population in athletes, catapulted his desire for working in the mental health field. After graduating, he worked as a youth treatment specialist for a non-profit organization, helping develop emotional regulation, problem solving, and social skills. Nathan then received his Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
Through his undergraduate and graduate time, Nathan has gained valuable experience working with a variety of mental health challenges and a wide variety of ages, including children, adolescents, young adults, and adults.
Nathan believes his love for meeting new people and really getting to know them strengthens his therapeutic approach. Through utilizing strategies from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Nathan believes in empowering individuals to develop skills and confront and reframe negative thought patterns to decrease and manage distress.
As a new professional in the mental health field at Focus, Nathan is looking forward to building new connections and creating a safe, welcoming therapeutic environment.
