LGBTQ Resources in Omaha, Nebraska

LGBTQ Resources in Omaha, Nebraska

Sometimes it can feel hard to find community. The uncertainty of how you will be received can keep you isolated. An important factor in our mental health is community, but it’s often daunting to know where to start. Below I have gathered a list of queer friendly community resources for LGBTQ+ folks in Omaha. Whether a support group or a place to play is what you’re seeking, there is space for everyone.

Omaha For Us

https://www.omahaforus.org

742 N 109th Court, Omaha, NE 68154

Proud Horizons is a social support group for LGTBQ+ youth, ages 13 – 18. Led by trained and background checked adults, this is a great resource for young folks to be in an affirming, welcoming environment. Fill out an interest form here: https://www.omahaforus.org/proud-horizons

There is also a Support Group for 19+ adult LGBTQ+ folks. With both in person and virtual options, this group is accessible and a great place to find like-minded folks with similar experiences. Registration is required ahead of time and can be found at this link: https://www.omahaforus.org/mental-health

Gayme Night happens every week at Omaha For Us! This is a social group so if you are looking to find people with similar interests, this is a wonderful resource. There are many games available and this event is free. Come make a friend on Thursdays from 5-7pm! Looking for something more specific? They also host a Dungeons and Dragons game several times a month with a game master and other materials provided.

If you’re looking to volunteer, there are many options to contribute to this organization. This can also be a great way to find people who value what you value and give back to your community.

Nebraska AIDS Project

6220 Maple Street, Omaha, NE 68104

NAP Night in Omaha meets every fourth Thursday of the month at 5:30pm. This group serves as psychosocial and education support for folks living with or affected by HIV & AIDS. RSVP is required, so be sure to call the Monday before group by 3:00pm!
